The functional format is a skill-based, achievement-oriented style resume. This type of resume gives importance to experience and accomplishments. It is not the most liked style by the hiring manager because it omits date.
Functional Format Example:
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Sales Management
• Held market analysis on European markets and conducted feasibility studies to gauge the marketability of the business in Germany and Italy.
• Assertively marketed Jefferson’s business logo and message in media advertising, promoting brand awareness all throughout the US and Europe.
Market Penetration
• Garnered sales for telecommunication services to various business accounts in the Northwest and Midwest cities.
• Discussed with clients on the advantages of cost-effectiveness of switching from regular service which brought about a 15% increase in market penetration. This brought about increase in revenues at $20,000 in 1999.
Compilation of Achievements and Skills
This format combines functional and chronological formats all rolled into one! The functional format, includes experiences and achievements in various categories with headings that aim at hitting the position one is targeting. The difference is that it lists the information with regard to employment in a separate category.
Combination Format Example:
