Job Search Tactics for 2017-2018

We all one day come to the point in our lives when we need to look for a job. The reasons may be different (moving to a different state or country, career change, parental leave, etc.) but the reality is always the same: searching for employment that eats up so much time, efforts and nerves... According to the latest statistics on job trends, there are over 5 million job openings available right now which gives job seekers a wide selection of career choices to make. However, most of these vacancies have a strong competition and it is pretty hard to get through at least to the interview stage. The same statistics says that 35%-40% of employees are looking for a new job or plan to do so in the upcoming year. Add to that those who are unemployed and you will get quite a big number of those who will become your competitors. With that being said, job seekers should be equipped with knowledge of what can bring success and get them hired.

How to Land That Job?

Social Media. More and more people use social media in their job search. Employers cannot ignore this fact and as a result also use social network accounts of candidates to look for and evaluate candidates before they invite them to an interview room or make a hiring decision. LinkedIn is the obvious choice but it shouldn't be the only channel. Facebook and Snapchat for example, are another means how job seekers can offer their services. In other words, expect to rely more on social media let alone ignore these channels as you plan your job search campaigns. job search

Career Coaching. Employers all the more try to find the perfect pit for the job openings they have. With that being said, pre-hire coaching will rise in the upcoming years. So considering pre-hire and skills development platforms should definitely become a place to go for those looking for a job. Such platforms help both employers and job seekers as they basically assist people develop skills and match employers to ready-to-work job seekers who will be able to start strong and bring value to the company.

Be Always Prepared. Sometimes you might get great job offers when you are not actively looking for a job. And you have to be prepared for (and open to) the opportunities that may arise. There is nothing wrong with thinking about changing jobs while you are still employed. Therefore, we recommend updating your resume from time to time as well as monitor the market of job openings. Besides, there are a bunch of platforms created to help so called passive job seekers connect with job opportunities. Most of them allow employed workers share what it would take for them to switch the job (anonymously).

Artificial Intelligence. It is becoming more and more common to use AI in different areas of our life as it often makes our life easier. Artificial Intelligence is now also used by employers to guide the candidates through the application process as well as screen out those who don't match the job requirements. Chatbots now talk with candidates asking questions about one's past experience so you shouldn't be surprised if you have to deal with AI. Also, some companies still use applicant tracking software that scans applicants' resumes for keywords so job seekers have to take this fact into account before sending their resumes to potential employers.

Job Search Basics for Unemployed

Many job seekers tent to make this mistake: they spend 45-60 mins to draft a resume and then send it out to as many job openings as they possibly can in hopes some employers will respond. However, such approach is unlikely will bring any results. Instead, we recommend focusing on networking efforts. Although it may seem that building relatioships and contacts will unlikely lead you to jobs but the truth of the matter is that they can lead you to employment more than any job opening online. When done right, it can help you obtain necessary information about job openings, referrals, leads, etc. It may not give you immediate results as you would expect from most popular job search tactics, but in the long run you can get offers you could never get with job search approch most people use.

Thank you for the wonderful resume and layout. I am pleased with the work. My job search will kick into high gear in December so I will probably be using cover letter service then. Please add the gaduation date from Excel Technical college as 1998. Thank you so much.

Well written and it doesn't concentrate on the foodservice manager, a field I do not want to work in.

I wanted to let you know that I got the resume the very day you sent it out. My interview was scheduled for Tuesday and that same night, by 10 pm, I got an email from the principal informing me that the position was mine. The result was superquick!!! The job’s at the school I really wanted to be a part of. Thanks a million!!!
