With the advancement in technology, there has been a tremendous change in the way people look for jobs and employers look for their prospective candidate. This is the age of the Internet; a lot of things are done online now. Not only do people look for information on the net, but also they shop, they buy and sell, they book the tickets, they make new friends, they get in touch with old ones, there are a whole lot of things that are done online. One such thing is looking for jobs.

Today there are websites, dedicated to serving both the job seekers and the employers. Given the volume of the traffic and the bulk of such information, it is necessary to know about the different options available, so that you might be able to devise a strategy to make sure that your résumé gets noticed by prospective employers and hiring professionals.

Do you know the difference between Résumé posting and Résumé distribution?

  1. Résumé posting is a service that allows job seekers to post their résumés and those employers and recruiters, who subscribe to such a service, use it to find a potential employee. The employer or the recruiter has to look for a candidate from within the database. While looking for a candidate they type a keyword and come up with a list of résumés. The keywords in your résumé determine how often, does your resume show up

You will not need to pay anything to use this service. The employers and recruiters who wish to access the résumés pay for it. Posting your résumé on some online posting service is not enough. It does not mean that it will reach to every employer and recruiters. Only a few may find you, depending on the keywords in your résumé.

  1. Résumé distribution is a service that is completely the opposite of résumé posting. Here the job seeker is allowed to select a database of a potential employer and/or recruiter and email his/ her résumé to them. A job seeker targets his audience. Depending on the type of service a jobseeker pays.

Choosing a résumé distribution is a better option. Why? Let me tell you.

You are taking the initiative. You need not wait until they find you. You have a choice of choosing your employer and also control the number of employers and/or recruiter you contact, no matter how many you want. It works efficiently and is fast compared to posting, once you submit your résumé, it reaches them. However, the quality of the database of the employers and/or recruiters determines the quality of service you receive. Be sure that the distribution service allows you to target your employers by certain criteria like industry, job functions, and geographical area. It makes no sense targeting an employer if your job criteria do not match. In order to get the best results in both the cases, your résumé has to be well maintained. An ill-maintained résumé will hardly yield any response in distribution service and may be not at all in posting service.

Whether you choose posting service or distributing service, both will help you in your job search. You might not want to pay money and choose to post, however, in reality, distribution service is worth the amount you pay. Your great résumé and a good quality distribution service will provide you with many important leads in your job search and would also bring you in contact with influential hiring professionals.

Thank you for the wonderful resume and layout. I am pleased with the work. My job search will kick into high gear in December so I will probably be using cover letter service then. Please add the gaduation date from Excel Technical college as 1998. Thank you so much.

Well written and it doesn't concentrate on the foodservice manager, a field I do not want to work in.

I wanted to let you know that I got the resume the very day you sent it out. My interview was scheduled for Tuesday and that same night, by 10 pm, I got an email from the principal informing me that the position was mine. The result was superquick!!! The job’s at the school I really wanted to be a part of. Thanks a million!!!
